What do horror writers Stephen King, Paul Tremblay, Heather Langenkamp, Kate Siegel, Krsy Fox, Mali Elfman, and Alanah Pearce have in common? They've all joined forces to lend their voices to a new animated, family-friendly horror series. You read that right, Stephen King wrote a kids' cartoon. The series was created by Krsy Fox (Little Bites, Terrifier 3) and Kate Siegel (HushV/H/S/Beyond) and executive produced by Mali Elfman (Next Exit). Each episode of Dark Corners has prolific and epic horror writers behind it, and the good news continues… you can watch the first two on YouTube (or below) right now.

That's right, Dark Corners is now streaming for free (with more to come).  In total, there are seven shorts being released almost every day up until Halloween. The first two stories currently available are The Scariest Skeleto‘ and The Notes. Check back on the Dark Corners YouTube channel daily for a new story. These shorts are designed to be family-friendly, so with that in mind, each film has a “pumpkin rating.” One pumpkin for the mildly spooky and five pumpkins for the scariest. Here's a breakdown of exactly how the Dark Corners pumpkin rating system works.

Series co-creator Krsy Fox shared exclusively with FANGORIA: “I grew up being so passionate about horror, as is my own young daughter. This is something so special I get to create with her and two other Mothers, who are epic staples in the horror genre that I love and admire. Each one of these stories means so much to us, and the fact that we had people like Stephen King, Heather Langenkamp, and all the amazing writers jump on board with us to spread the joy spooky stories can bring to the whole family is an absolute dream come true. I hope we can teach young children and their families that horror is not only fun, but it can bring everyone closer together.”

Kate Siegel added: “I'm so excited to put Dark Corners out into the world for all the kids who crave spooky stuff! It's great to finally create something I can show to my own kids.”

Executive Producer and The Scariest Skeleton writer Mali Elman says: “As a kid who loved scary movies- I've always wanted to make fun, quality horror content for kids. I was extremely excited to join Dark Corners to help oversee these wildly inventive projects because I think it's so important (and fun) for kids to learn how to process scary things in positive ways.”

Paul Tremblay's (The Cabin At The End Of The World, Horror MovieThe Notes is the second episode in the series. This is a five-pumpkin deal on the Dark Corners rating system, so be warned!

That's just a taste of what's in store! I was able to attend the premiere of all seven episodes and I can confidently say, you are in for a treat! The animation style varies greatly from story to story and with the variety of tone (and scare factor), there's genuinely something for everyone. The best part was hearing the tiny creeps in the audience squealing with absolute delight at the onscreen scares. Bonus: These aren't just for kids. I can attest, those of us in the audience who fall into a different age bracket were just as delighted and entertained. I won't ruin the surprises the season has in store for you, but whet your whistle with these first two incredible episodes and be sure to check in with Dark Corners every day for the rest of the week. There are very likely some formative horror memories awaiting young horror fans. Cheers to the next generation of creeps, and all the creators who brought Dark Corners to life.
