Scream king David Dastmalchian (The Last Voyage of the Demeter, Late Night with the Devil) is set to lead psychological thriller Kodak SuperXX alongside Kelly Marie Tran (The Wedding Banquet, The Last Jedi).
Written by Tony Rettenmaier (They Cloned Tyrone), Kodak SuperXX is the directorial debut of filmmaker Auden Bui, and follows:
Linh (Tran), a quiet woman whose solitary life revolves around her work as a darkroom developer at one of the city’s last boutique photo labs. Her quiet existence takes a paranoid turn when she becomes entangled with a mysterious stranger (Dastmalchian), whose photographs reveal a dark secret.
Deadline report that the Kodak SuperXX has been compared to both Nightcrawler and Francis Ford Coppola’s classic The Conversation.
Per Bui:
“I’m excited to embark on this journey with Kelly and David to create a film that aims to provoke, challenge and hopefully leave audiences both uncomfortable and turned on.”
Uncomfortable and turned on? Consider us intrigued.
Dastmalchian and Iacobino, who will produce under their Good Fiend Films banner, add:
“Good Fiend Films is excited to be helping bring this story to the screen with a director of powerful vision and the artists who will shape the world of KODAK SuperXX. This haunting and complex narrative explores the murky shadows of human nature in a way that invites audiences to be challenged, entertained and transported.”
Dastmalchian continues to adds more strings to his horror bow, with Kodak SuperXX joining sci-fi horror The Cure , Bryan Fuller's Dust Bunny and zombie action-horror Epilogue in the star's exciting roster of upcoming projects.
Look out for more on Kodak SuperXX as we learn it.
