The Death of a Unicorn - A24

Ever wondered what the death of all your childhood dreams sounds like? Well, A24 has the answer for you, as they’ve just released the official soundtrack for Death of a Unicorn, their new horror-comedy starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega, which hits theaters today.

The new soundtrack features “DOA,” the new single from six-time Grammy Award winner St. Vincent, as well as original music from Dan Romer and Giousuè Greco. A24 has also released an official playlist for the film, featuring the film’s notably Cocteau Twins needle drop as well as the full score for the film, which is available now on Spotify. (The full soundtrack is also available on Apple Music, YouTube Music, or wherever you stream your film soundtracks.)

The new soundtrack joins the host of others A24 have released for their massive oeuvre of films. Soundtracks from films like MaXXXine, Heretic, I Saw the TV Glow, Talk to Me, and Bodies Bodies Bodies are available for purchase as vinyl records on A24’s online shop — Death of a Unicorn hasn’t quite reached physical media level just yet, but hopefully it will soon.

Written and directed by Alex Scharfman, the film chronicles exactly what it says on the tin — the death of a unicorn, when Rudd and Ortega’s father-daughter pair accidentally kill it on the way to the home of Rudd’s mysterious boss, played by Richard E. Grant. Turns out, the unicorn was key to his boss’s plan to harness its miraculous curative properties, and things go to hell in a handbasket quicker than you can say “unicorn horn.”

Death of a Unicorn, also starring Will Poulter and Téa Leoni, is now playing in theaters.
