Christopher Landon's twisty tech thriller Drop hits Digital tomorrow, April 29, with a 4K UHD and Blu-ray release to follow from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment on June 10.
Starring Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus), Brandon Sklenar (It Ends With Us), Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) and newcomer Jacob Robinson, Drop has been described by Landon as his “love letter to Brian De Palma”, and follow:
[…] a widowed mother on her first date in years, who arrives at an upscale restaurant where she is relieved that her date, Henry (Sklenar) is more charming and handsome than she expected. But their chemistry begins to curdle as Violet begins being irritated and then terrorized by a series of anonymous drops to her phone.
She is instructed to tell nobody and follow instructions or the hooded figure she sees on her home security cameras will kill Violet’s young son and babysitting sister. Violet must do exactly as directed or everyone she loves will die. Her unseen tormentor’s final directive? Kill Henry.
Also staring in Drop are Reed Diamond, Gabrielle Ryan, Jeffrey Self, Ed Weeks, and Travis Nelson.
Written by Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach, the Blumhouse film is Landon’s first directorial effort since last year’s We Have a Ghost, starring Stranger Things’ David Harbour and Anthony Mackie. Producers include horror titan Jason Blum for Blumhouse, Michael Bay, Brad Fuller (A Quiet Place, The Purge) and Cameron Fuller (The Astronaut) for Platinum Dunes. Executive producer is Sam Lerner.
