We're partnering with Outside the Box [Office] and Paramount Scares to bring you a free screening of Event Horizon. Join us on Monday, February 10th, to experience infinite space and infinite terror. RSVP's are required so be sure to register in advance.
Director Paul W.S. Anderson and writer Philip Eisner take us to the year 2047, where a rescue crew is tasked with investigating the mysterious reappearance of a spaceship that had been lost for seven years. The lost ship (the Event Horizon) sends out a distress signal, and the rescue crew sets out to solve the mystery. Relatively familiar territory so far. But things get pretty gruesome, and we veer off into some pretty great uncharted territory. In case you haven't seen this, we'll stop right there and won't get into how Event Horizon deviates from what might typically come at this part of the tale.
Colors of the Dark co-host (and event organizer) Rebekah McKendry shared, “I first saw Event Horizon when I was a teenager, and it melted my brain. I can’t wait to share this film with a whole new audience. This film not only features some of the most intense goriest moments of '90s horror, it also has a heavy psychological effect that leaves you thinking about it for days afterward.”
McKendry added, “Event Horizon has long been heralded as one of the most intense science fiction horror movies. Featuring an all-star cast, this one not only tells a captivating story, it also packs a hell of a horror punch!”
Scott Wampler revisited the film in 2022 for its 25th anniversary, calling it “Anderson's best film.” You can read that full article right here. Information for the free screening and RSVP link are below:
