INSIDIOUS: OUT OF THE FURTHER (Credit: Sony Pictures) Sony's panel at CinemaCon delivered the first trailer for Insidious: Out of the Further, the sixth installment in the long-running supernatural horror franchise hitting theaters this summer.
Directed by Jacob Chase (Come Play) from a screenplay he co-wrote with David Leslie Johnson (The Conjuring 2, Orphan), in Insidious: Out of the Further, Amelia Eve stars as Gemma, a young mother raising her daughter in the house she grew up in, who discovers she can travel into The Further, the purgatorial realm of lost souls at the heart of the Insidious universe. Resident Evil
RESIDENT EVIL: WELCOME TO RACCOON CITY (Credit: Sony Pictures) The teaser shown for Zach Cregger's hotly-anticipated Resident Evil hasn't been made available online yet, but lucky CinemaCon goers were kind enough to detail the rundown of what happens.
To nobody's surprise, it sounds like the Barbarian and Weapons director has gone nice ‘n gnarly for his take on Capcom's iconic survival horror gaming series, telling an entirely original new story not related to any previously known characters (sorry, Leon S. Kennedy stans) or any of Paul W.S. Anderson's previous Resident Evil movies. Read the full rundown of the first Resident Evil teaser here.
Escape from New York
John Carpenter's ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK (Credit: Sony Pictures) A remake of John Carpenter's Escape from New York has been in talks for years now, with Leigh Whannell, Robert Rodriguez and Radio Silence all attached at different points. Fingers crossed the new iteration, announced at the StudioCanal panel at CinemaCon is more successful.
No director has been named for the project just yet, with Studiocanal EVP Global Marketing and Distribution Hugh Spearing just announcing that a remake was in development in partnership with producers The Picture Company (A Complete Unknown). All we can do for now is speculate on who'd star – original star Kurt Russell's IRL son Wyatt Russell, perhaps?
The Howling
THE HOWLING (Credit: Sony Pictures) Along with Escape from New York, Studiocanal also announced they're developing a “reimagining” of Joe Dante's 1981 werewolf horror The Howling, which celebrated its 45th anniversary last month.
Starring scream queen Dee Wallace, The Howling followed a television news anchor who ends up at a resort populated by werewolves. No news yet on who will direct or star in the new version, but with Robert Eggers' Werwulf also on the horizon, we're due a good werewolf renaissance.
Bloodborne
BLOODBORNE (Credit: FromSoftware) As the video game adaptation trend continues to pick up speed, PlayStation's horror-action title Bloodborne is officially the latest to get a big screen movie version, with Sony Pictures announcing an an R-rated animated feature is in the works. Ice Cream Man
ICE CREAM MAN (Credit: Valeria Flores/The Horror Section) CinemaCon attendees got a new look at Ice Cream Man, the upcoming horror from Hostel‘s Eli Roth which hits theaters on the appropriately summery date of August 7.
Of no relation to the 1995 horror film of the same name, which starred Clint Howard as a demented ice cream vendor who uses human flesh in his recipes, Ice Cream Man follows inhabitants of the idyllic suburban town Bayleen Bay , that descends into madness after a mysterious ice cream man serves frozen treats that turn children into homicidal maniacs. Evil Dead Burn
Lee Cronin's EVIL DEAD RISE (Credit: Ghost House Pictures) Lucky CinemaCon attendees got a first look at Evil Dead Burn, the latest standalone entry into the Evil Dead series from Infested director Sébastien Vaniček.

Ouch. While we wait for the public trailer, catch up on everything we know about Evil Dead Burn right here.
Evil Dead Wrath
A new look at Evil Dead Burn wasn't all that came out of the Warner Bros. panel at CinemaCon, with the exciting announcement that Evil Dead Wrath from Francis Galluppi (The Last Stop in Yuma County) will officially release in theaters on April 7, 2028. Werwulf
A still from WOLF MANOR, not Robert Eggers' WERWULF (Credit: IMDb) Robert Eggers' latest Gothic nightmare Werwulf hits theaters on Christmas Day, but Focus Features are getting fans hyped before it's even summer by revealing a first trailer at CinemaCon.
Starring frequent Eggers collaborators Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Lily-Rose Depp (both stars of 2024's vampire epic Nosferatu), as well as Willem Dafoe (The Lighthouse) and Ralph Ineson (The Witch), Werwulf is said to be Eggers' “most terrifying motion picture yet”, and although the trailer hasn't been released publicly yet, a description from CinemaCon details it as “dark and ominous” (we'd expect no less from an Eggers pic), and that it depicts Taylor-Johnson seemingly transforming into the titular creature. Stay tuned.
Disclosure Day
The legendary Steven Spielberg took to the CinemaCon stage for the first time to receive the Motion Picture Association’s America250 Award, and to introduce a new trailer for his upcoming sci-fi thriller Disclosure Day. Based on a story by Spielberg with a screenplay from Jurassic Park‘s David Koepp, Disclosure Day stars a powerhouse cast that includes Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place), Josh O'Connor (Challengers), Colman Domingo (The Running Man) and Colin Firth (Kingsman).
The film asks audiences to imagine “if you found out we weren’t alone in the universe, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you?” The latest trailer, which we can only hope will be made public soon, reportedly shows the alien life forms, and according to descriptions from CinemaCon, they look a lot like the smaller aliens at the end of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, further fuelling rumors that Disclosure Day is a secret sequel to Spielberg's 1977 sci-fi epic. Watch this space.

Daisy Ridley (Star Wars franchise), Rupert Grint (Harry Potter franchise), Ian McKellen (Lord of the Rings franchise), Andrea Riseborough (Mandy, Possessor) and Mortdecai actor Johnny Depp lead the cast. The footage has yet to be made public, but per a description from the con, the Christmas Carol adaptation sees Depp don prosthetics as the elderly miser Scrooge, and shouting the classic ‘bah, humbug' phrase. Interesting indeed.
Whalefall
Austin Abrams in Zach Cregger's WEAPONS (Credit: Warner Bros.) CinemaCon attendees got to go inside the belly of the beast when 20th Century debuted the first trailer for their upcoming thriller Whalefall. Starring Austin Abrams (Weapons, Zach Cregger's upcoming Resident Evil), Whalefall is based on Daniel Kraus' novel of the same name, and follows a scuba diver in search of his deceased father’s remains who gets swallowed by an 80-foot, 60-ton sperm whale and has only one hour to escape before his oxygen runs out. Josh Brolin also stars.
The Hollywood Reporter gave a rundown of the trailer, not yet made public, reporting that “Abrams is on a diving expedition when he encounters a squid, and menacing music plays as that squid is followed by a massive whale. He’s pinned against the rocks without a way to escape, and when he does try to swim free and hide among the kelp, the whale continues to circle in the darkness.” Thalassaphobes, brace yourselves.
