The A Quiet Place universe is expanding. While we wait for director John Krasinski to deliver the much-anticipated A Quiet Place Part III, the folks at IDW are here to help fill the void with a brand new miniseries titled A Quiet Place: Storm Warning. The book is an official spin-off taking place in the same universe as the movies, one focusing on a new cast of characters in a new setting. Fango has an exclusive look at what’s to come.

Below, we have some exclusive variant covers for issue #3 of the series, which hails from the IDW Dark imprint and arrives in March. The book hails from creative duo Phil Hester (Green Arrow, Swamp Thing) and Ryan Kelly (Lucifer, Local). The cover art from Rahzzah features the mysterious, sound-sensitive creatures from the movies. As we can see, an unfortunate soul is hiding under the water to evade them.

The other cover by Hester and Lee Loughridge features a man on a boat with a wrench in hand, ready to fight for his life, seemingly. #3 Cover A is from Ryan Kelly and Lee Loughridge. #3 Variant B is by Rahzzah, while #3 Variant RI 1:15 is Rahzzah’s full art without the text, which you can see below.

IDW first announced in October of last year alongside the Smile prequel series entitled Smile: For the Camera. It’s all part of a larger partnership between the publisher and Paramount Pictures to expand the scope of some of the studio’s biggest horror franchises.

We also had the chance to hear from series writer and layout artist Hester about expanding the A Quiet Place franchise on the page. For him, it was much more than just a chance to revisit what was covered in the movies themselves.

A Quiet Place: Storm Warning is more than just a chance to revisit the world of the films, it's an invitation to see that world in a whole new light. On the day the creatures fell upon humanity, everyone's life – no matter how previously humdrum – suddenly became an epic saga. The magic of the original film lies in watching ordinary people struggle with extraordinary threats. In AQP:SW we doubled up on the threats, forcing the survivors of the creatures' dominion to also deal with a catastrophic flood. How the citizens of our little town not only weather the storm, but adapt to use it against their attackers shifts this book from mere survival horror to a story of resilience and resistance against impossible odds.”

“Don't worry, the scares are still there,” Hester added. “Although the comics form limits the way we can tell the story, it also demands we find new, innovative ways to terrify. I guarantee every issue of this book contains at least one ‘Aw, hell no’ moment for every ‘Hell, yes’ one.”

Here is the official synopsis for A Quiet Place: Storm Warning

“The world ended in a hush.

The creatures came for the cities first. But in Pearl, Iowa—a tiny island town on the Mississippi—the mayor and townsfolk believe that’s someone else’s problem. Cut off from the chaos of the coasts, they think they can ride out the storm. But fire chief Lonnie Fry knows better. The creatures that hunt by sound are coming west, and unless the people of Pearl take drastic action, silence won’t save them—it’ll bury them.”

A Quiet Place: Storm Warning #1 hits shelves on March 11, 2026. The pre-orders cut off is February 2, 2026.
