Exclusive: THE TURKISH COFFEE TABLE Poster Teases BASKIN Director’s Disturbing Remake

Can Evrenol's take on Caye Casas' THE COFFEE TABLE will screen as part of Cannes' Fantastic Pavillion.

One of the most shocking movies of last year, Caye Casas' The Coffee Table, has been remade by Baskin director Can Evrenol, and we've got an exclusive poster reveal ahead of the pitch-black thriller's Cannes debut.

Titled Cam Sepha, or The Turkish Coffee Table, Evrenol's version stars Turkish comedy superstar Alper Kul, and will screen as part of Cannes' Fantastic Pavillion’s Galas for Marche Du Film badgeholders.

If you haven't seen The Coffee Table, it's pretty imperative that you go in blind, so we won't spoil the plot here. All you need to know is that the film follows a married couple, under a lot of pressure as new parents, who bring home a tacky, gaudy coffee table for the living room.

Horror master Stephen King is among the many fans of The Coffee Table, calling it “horrible and horribly funny”, and we can only imagine what Evrenol, whose Baskin and Sayara are two incredibly hardcore genre offerings, brings to the tale.

Speaking exclusively to FANGORIA, Evrenol had the following to say of The Turkish Coffee Table:

I hope both the new audiences and the fans of the original will dig The Coffee Table in Turkish language! It will certainly be a shock to Turkish audiences when it’s released over here. I can’t believe how close to my heart the film ended up to be, despite being a remake.

The Turkish Coffee Table was produced Bilal Kalyoncu, co-Produced by Morbido and Globalgate, with Pablo Guiza as executive producer.
