Survival horror girlies rejoice – the upcoming Fatal Frame IICrimson Butterfly remake is almost here, and with it, an exciting DLC collaboration with another iconic game franchise.

Along with a brand new trailer ahead of the game's March 12 release date, Koei Tecmo has announced that Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly players will also be treated to a special collaboration with Silent Hill fwith free collaboration costumes coming as downloadable content, and more.

As two distinctly Japanese horror titles, it makes sense that Fatal Frame II and Silent Hill f would be teaming up. In fact, when Silent Hill f was announced, gamers couldn't help but wonder if the eighth mainline game in Konami's iconic survival horror series was influenced by Fatal Frame II.

Originally released back in 2003,  Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly is the second entry in the Fatal Frame series, and follows sisters Mio and Mayu Amakura who are are trapped in a ghost-filled village cursed by a failed ritual which they are being forced to re-enact. Publisher Koei Tecmo and developer Team Ninja have overseen the “complete overhaul” of the new release, with improvements to everything from visuals and audio to the core gameplay systems and controls.

Per Steam, the signature Camera Obscura mechanic, used to capture and fend off spirits in the original game, remains a key feature, now offering richer and more engaging gameplay in both exploration and combat.

Released last fall, Silent Hill f took the Silent Hill series in a brand new direction by taking the horror out of the titular American town and moving the setting to 1960s Japan. The game follows a young girl named Hinako Shimizu, whose town of Ebisugaoka is suddenly shrouded in fog and begins to change in a horrific way. A hit with fans and critics alike, and FANGORIA's top horror game of 2025Silent Hill f sold over one million units in its first day of release, becoming the fastest-selling game in the series.

An eShop demo of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly for the Switch 2 will be available on March 5, with the full game going live for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on March 12.
