We have great news for you about the Best Horror Movies Streaming in August. You will have your pick of new films and TV shows premiering on many of the streaming services. along with plenty of scary repertory titles to keep you scared all month long.
The battle of one family against Death will finally come to streaming in August as Final Destination: Bloodlines will start streaming on HBO Max this month. You'll also be able to enjoy Alien: Covenant, Freaky Tales, and The Nun as well.
Arrow has Gaspar Noé's hallucinatory Lux ÆTerna, Sator, 100 Bloody Acres, Crackoon, and their latest exploration into the mind of a genre expert, Tim Lucas Selects, as the Video Watchdog founder/editor and novelist chooses his favorite fright films and he has written a book on genre auteur Mario Bava.
Hulu steps into the arena with Osgood Perkins' change of pace follow-up to his breakout hit Longlegs, The Monkey. It's a rip-roaring romp that kills a lot of people in some of the funniest yet horrifying ways. They will also host the premiere of the newest entry into the Alien franchise, the show created by Noah Hawley, Alien: Earth. Xenomorph fans have a lot to look forward to with new episodes dropping every week until September 23. You can count on Finn Wolfhard and Billy Bryk's slasher comedy Hell of a Summer and Spider One's Little Bites to keep you entertained as well.
Paramount+ sets you up for an epic binge-watch of Paranormal Activity because they have every single film in the series streaming in August. Peacock logs on with a rare appearance of David Fincher's Se7en and the premiere of Borderline starring Samara Weaving and Ray Nicholson. Prime howls at the supermoon with Steven C. Miller's Werewolves, starring Frank Grillo and werewolves that came to life through practical effects.
Screambox has a real treat in store for viewers this month. While there are obvious standouts like Takashi Miike's Ichi the Killer, Bruno Mattei's post-apocalyptic rodentfest Rats: Night of Terror, and the intriguing low-budget movie Maximum Strollerdrive, the big news (and the reason why the streamer has so many scary movies this month), is that to celebrate the release of Macon Blair's remake of The Toxic Avenger, Screambox has made 50, you read that right, Troma films available on their service this month starting on August 15.
Let's all celebrate Toxie with an all-you-can-eat buffet of Troma.

Lux ÆTerna: Gaspar Noé, the arch provocateur of New French Extremity responsible for Irreversible and Enter the Void, blurs the boundaries between reality and fiction in Lux Æterna, his ode to the suffering and sacrifices involved in the creation of art. French cinema icons Charlotte Gainsbourg (Ismael’s Ghosts, Antichrist) and Béatrice Dalle (Betty Blue, Inside), playing themselves, star as the lead actress and the director of an experimental film about witches. But as preparations for the shoot get underway, the increasingly chaotic production slowly unravels as egos and bitter resentments rise to the surface, threatening to derail the entire enterprise. Shot over just five days and largely improvised by the superlative cast, Lux Æterna is a powerful, hypnotic assault on the senses like no other, cementing Noé’s position as one of the most incendiary voices in cinema today.
Sator: Secluded in a desolate forest, a broken family is observed by Sator, a supernatural entity who is attempting to claim them.

Freaky Tales: Four interconnected stories set in 1987 Oakland, CA. will tell about the love of music, movies, people, places, and memories beyond our knowable universe. Written and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, the film stars Pedro Pascal, Ben Mendelsohn, Jay Ellis, singer Normani in her film debut, and Dominique Thorne.
Gremlins 2: The New Batch: In director Joe Dante's sequel to his hit horror comedy, The Gremlins are back, and this time, they've taken control of a New York City media mogul's high-tech skyscraper. Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates, Dick Miller, Jackie Joseph, and Keye Luke return while Belinda Balaski plays a different character with new cast members John Glover, Robert Prosky, Haviland Morris, Robert Picardo, and Christopher Lee.
The Nun: A priest with a haunted past and a novice on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate the death of a young nun in Romania and confront a malevolent force in the form of a demonic nun. It Feeds: After a young girl bursts into their home psychiatry practice claiming an entity is feeding on her, Jordan and her clairvoyant mother must find a way to stop the force before the girl is taken completely.
Little Bites: Spider One directed this tale of a mother's desperate attempt to protect her ten-year-old daughter. A widowed young woman decides to allow a nightmarish monster to slowly eat her alive to save her child.
The Monkey: Osgood Perkins' hilariously gory adaptation of the Stephen King short story that stars Tatiana Maslany, Christian Convery, Colin O'Brien, Rohan Campbell, Sarah Levy, Adam Scott, and Elijah Wood. When twin brothers Bill and Hal find their father's old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths starts. The siblings decide to throw the toy away and move on with their lives, growing apart over the years. The film features some truly spectacular kills.
Ready or Not: It was not quite what a newly married bride was expecting as her wedding night takes a sinister turn when her eccentric new in-laws force her to take part in a terrifying game.
Resident Evil: Extinction: In the first sequel to the franchise, survivors of the Raccoon City catastrophe travel across the Nevada desert, hoping to make it to Alaska. Alice joins the caravan and their fight against the evil Umbrella Corp.
Thanksgiving: After a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy, a mysterious Thanksgiving-inspired killer terrorizes Plymouth, Massachusetts, the birthplace of the infamous holiday. Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Nell Verlaque, Rick Hoffman, and Gina Gershon star in this feature-length version of the infamous Grindhouse trailer.

Alien: Earth: Showrunner Noah Hawley has created a new vision of Xenomorph terror, this time on Earth. When the space vessel Maginot crash-lands on Earth, a young woman and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet's biggest threat. Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, and Adarsh Gourav star in this FX series that debuts later this month.

The film was not a success on its release, but has been reaccessed in 28 years becoming a cult classic.
Mother!: A couple's relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence during the wife's pregnancy. The number of guests swell and their intentions become more and more sinister. Darren Aronofsky directed this surreal film that stars Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, Michelle Pfeiffer, Domhnall Gleeson, Brian Gleeson, and Kristen Wiig.

From bringing in Dennis Hopper as a cowboy hat-wearing lawman seeking vengeance with chainsaws of his own to a chili cookoff subplot, he definitely succeeded. Caroline Williams, Bill Johnson, Bill Moseley, and Jim Siedow star in the film that will blow your mind.
Werewolves: After a worldwide pandemic the previous year of people turning into werewolves after a super-moon event, two scientists try to stop the mutation from happening again as part of a team effort, but the experiment goes wildly awry. Frank Grillo, Katrina Law, Ilfenesh Hadera, James Michael Cummings, and Lou Diamond Phillips star in Steven C. Miller's scary action movie with a whole lot of werewolves.
