Did Final Destination: Bloodlines set a new world record? The stunt team believes so! Directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein revealed that the stunt team submitted Yvette Ferguson’s fire stunt to Guinness for the oldest person ever set on fire on camera in a movie. The process takes a bit for official approval, so as of now, the official standing is that Ferguson’s work in Final Destination: Bloodlines is pending Guinness Book of World Records approval. And that is pretty damn cool.
Lipovsky shared, “When the stunt team presented Yvette Ferguson as the potential person to do this huge, full-body burn, she came to us and she was so excited. She said ‘Everyone else in my family’s been on fire except for me. This is so exciting, I never thought I’d get the chance!’”

“Stunt people are a different species, they love doing the dangerous stuff,” Stein mused before adding, “We’re pretty confident Yvette’s going to get her due.” We’ll be eagerly awaiting Yvette’s official Final Destination entry in the Guinness Book of World Records.
In addition to gnarly gore FX for the level of kills fans have come to expect from the Final Destination franchise, Bloodlines also features a fair amount of pyrotechnics – fireballs and explosions. The opening scene for this one is absolute chaos, and the directors kept it as practical as they could. In addition to setting stuntwoman Yvette Ferguson on fire, the directors share that their team “Built the whole set to be fireproof. They basically built it out of concrete because we had so many fireballs going on inside there.”
At the heart of all this chaos, you’ll find an unassuming piece of copper wielded by an unruly youth. There have been recent murmurings in the real-life news that Trump would like to take the penny out of circulation. Could abolishing the penny have anything to do with Final Destination: Bloodlines? Did Trump attend an early Final Destination: Bloodlines screening? Lipovsky teased, “Yeah, he brought us to Mar-a-Lago and was very concerned about the safety of the population. Pennies play a big part in this movie, and I think everyone will never look at them the same way again.”
“I think his HHS secretary is also trying to ban MRIs now,” Stein quipped.
What the Final Destination franchise has done for airplanes, logging trucks, and gymnastics equipment, will it also do for the penny? Only time will tell. But I’m fully expecting tourism rates for Seattle’s Space Needle, Las Vegas’ Strat, and sky-high fine dining across the board to drop off a bit.
