After scaring generations of movie watchers in theaters, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is creeping into homes on digital this week. The film, starring Josh Hutcherson and McKenna Grace, hits digital platforms tomorrow, December 23, and to celebrate, FANGORIA has an exclusive clip from the film’s special features, revealing how Freddy and his friends were brought to terrifying life.
Based on the popular video game franchise of the same name, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 sees the return of Hutcherson as security guard Mike, alongside returning stars Matthew Lillard, Elizabeth Lail, and Piper Rubio. Directed by Emma Tammi and featuring the voices of Megan Fox and Kellen Goff, the film’s synopsis is as follows:
One year after the supernatural nightmare at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a shocking new chapter of terror begins when former security guard Mike’s sister, Abby, sneaks out in search of her animatronic friends: Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy. As terrifying events begin to unfold, dark secrets about the true origin of Freddy’s are revealed, unleashing a forgotten horror hidden away for decades.
Bonus features on the digital version of Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 include interviews with the cast about their characters, exclusive sneak peeks at how Mangle and The Marionette came to love, and an in-depth exploration of the film’s sets and how the production incorporated special Easter eggs from the game into its design. Also included is “Bringing Freddy & His Friends to Life,” a piece on how the film’s stunt doubles and puppeteers made the iconic animatronics come to life, which you can check out a sneak peek at down below.
But if you’d rather have a physical copy of the film, never fear: Blumhouse has also announced that the film will be released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on February 17. In the meantime, you can always fill that creepy hole in your heart by playing the games!
