Ladies and gentlemen, we have our first look at Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 – and it’s exceptionally weird. Scott Cawthon, the creator of the video game sensation, recently took to Twitter to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the original game that started it all. To cap it all off, he shared some behind-the-scenes photos from the work being done on the animatronics for the forthcoming movie sequel. He also shared a first glance at the script, though that is not nearly as straightforward.
First, let’s talk about those animatronics. Once again, per Cawthon’s caption, we can see that Jim Henson’s Creature Shop is once again crafting the inhabitants of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While not everyone was a fan of the first film, it would be hard to deny that the animatronics were anything shy of impressive. So this is certainly welcome news.

This is where things get weird! Cawthon then decided to tell fans that one more surprise was on the way before the day was done. He was going to share an actual page from the screenplay for FNAF2. The only problem? He shared three fake ones as well. As Cawthon shared…
“There is one more surprise before the day is over. We will be releasing one page from the actual Five Nights at Freddy's 2 movie screenplay! Of course, it might be more interesting if it were released alongside three FAKE screenplay pages. It will be up to the fanbase to figure out which page is REAL.”

There is a lot to dissect in those pages, and fans in the comments already have all sorts of theories as to which one is real and which one is fake. The games, it’s worth nothing, have shockingly intense and deep lore, so there are rabbit holes upon rabbit holes one could go down here. I welcome fans to go down those rabbit holes as they please.
Last year’s Five Nights at Freddy’s became a surprise monster hit, taking in nearly $300 million at the global box office. Universal and Blumhouse were quick to green light a sequel, which is currently due to hit theaters in December 2025. Plot details remain under wraps, but Emma Tammi will once again be in the director’s chair. The original cast is expected to return as well, including Josh Hutcherson, Matthew Lillard, Elizabeth Lail and Piper Rubio.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is currently set to hit theaters on December 5, 2025. For more, read about how Blumhouse intends to bring its brand of horror to gaming.
