Following 2022's Influencer and its sequel Influencers, hitting Shudder on December 12, director Kurtis David Harder is set to direct horror-thriller FOMO, described as Midsommar meets Squid Game.
From writer Yalun Tu (The Season, My Undead Yokai Girlfriend), FOMO follows a party trip to the Greek islands that turns sinister when a group of friends realize they’ve become unwilling participants in an ancient ritual with life-or-death stakes. The gang must survive a series of hedonistic trials and be rewarded with an endless lifetime of pleasure, or fail, and be offered as a sacrifice to the gods. The party only ends when the last man is standing…
Harder directs for indie label Badlands, founded by longtime Sony executive Scott Strauss alongside Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee’s Thunder Road. No news yet on who will star in FOMO, or when the culty horror is set to be released.
2022's Influencer starred Cassandra Naud as social-media influencer who finds herself in a nightmare scenario in Thailand. Naud returns for the sequel alongside Barbarian‘s Georgia Campbell, with Influencers taking home top prize for audience favorite at this year's Brooklyn Horror Film Festival.
In Influencers:
“In the sun-drenched countryside of southern France, CW lives a quiet, idyllic life with her girlfriend Diane, hiding a dark obsession with murder and stolen identities. During an anniversary getaway, they cross paths with Charlotte, a bold, alluring influencer whose curiosity quickly turns intrusive. When CW acts on a violent impulse, the consequences spiral out of control, and as Diane begins to suspect the truth, CW’s carefully constructed life threatens to collapse around her.”
