Ahead of its streaming premiere on November 7 (following a limited run at select theaters starting October 17), Netflix has unveiled a new trailer for Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein that gives us our best look yet at Jacob Elordi's take on the Creature.
Starring alongside Elordi are Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein, Mia Goth as Elizabeth Lavenza, and Christoph Waltz as Dr. Pretorius. In del Toro's take on Mary Shelley's classic sci-fi novel, a brilliant but egotistical scientist brings a monstrous creature to life in a daring experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.
Also starring in the creature classic are Felix Kammerer (All Quiet on the Western Front), Lars Mikkelsen (Ahsoka), David Bradley (Harry Potter), Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth), Ralph Ineson (The Witch, Nosferatu), and Charles Dance (Alien 3, Game of Thrones).
Speaking on the movie back at Cannes, del Toro calls Frankenstein “an emotional story” for him, adding:
“It’s as personal as anything. I’m asking a question about being a father, being a son. I’m not doing a horror movie — ever. I’m not trying to do that. What I can say is, for me, it’s an incredibly emotional movie.”
We beg to differ on the “not a horror movie” claims though, Maestro. Check out the new trailer for Frankenstein below:
