There are some treasures available in December on free horror movie streaming apps, including the entire Masters of Horror series, uncut and without ads, with one episode that was pulled from broadcast from the original airing of the show. Masters of Horror, a television series that featured some of horror's greatest filmmakers, was created by filmmaker Mick Garris. Kanopy, one of the free streaming services that can be accessed with your library card, is now streaming both seasons, including Takashi Miike's Imprint, originally pulled from broadcast by Showtime, and the uncut version of Dario Argento's gory Jenifer, which was edited in subsequent broadcasts. Masters of Horror also includes a performance by legendary actor Udo Kier, who recently passed away, in John Carpenter's episode, Cigarette Burns.
Pluto TV, the streamer that has channels that play movies and TV shows 24 hours a day and seven days a week, whose motto is Stream Now, Pay Never, is true to the letter. They have specific channels devoted to scary movies and TV shows, including the Horror, Terror, Walking Dead Universe, Dark Shadows, and Twilight Zone channels. This month, they have 31 new titles, including all of the films in the Blade series, the first horror parody film, Student Bodies, Lee Cronin‘s debut film, and a fantastic monster movie from the nineties, The Relic.
Tubi is ready with 24 new movies for December, which means you can stream Paul Schrader's Cat People, which isn't on streaming very often and is well worth a viewing, zombie romantic comedy Life After Beth, James Gunn's feature ultra slimy debut film, Slither, Mark Mylod's sinister comedy horror film set in the world of fine dining, The Menu, and both of the giant prehistoric megaladon monster movies, The Meg and The Meg 2: The Trench. The shark sequel is directed by Ben Wheatley, the director of Kill List, and is marvelously entertaining.
Free Horror Movies Streaming On Kanopy:
Kanopy is now streaming both seasons of this anthology horror series, originally broadcast on Showtime, that features some of horror's greatest filmmakers. The series was produced by director Mick Garris after he hosted informal dinners with his friends and colleagues for years. Garris posted on social media to alert horror fans that the whole series was finally available, including the 13th episode that was never broadcast by Showtime because of concerns about the content of the episode. The episode, Imprint, directed by Takashi Miike, which Garris said was “the most disturbing film I've ever seen,” has only been available on DVD and Blu-ray and was eventually aired once in the United Kingdom.
In the post, Garris stated, “Both seasons of MASTERS OF HORROR are now playing on Kanopy, unedited and without ads.” This would also include episode four, directed by Dario Argento, Jenifer, which was cut for graphic violence after the first accidental broadcast, so you can watch all of the episodes as they were originally intended to be seen by the filmmakers, including Mick Garris, who directed two episodes. This is a not to be missed opportunity to watch a television series with some of the horror genre's greatest artists.

Directed by Robert Rodriguez and written by Quentin Tarantino, this film abruptly shifts from a crime film to a vampire horror story as two criminals and their hostages unknowingly seek temporary refuge in a truck stop populated by vampires, with chaotic results. Harvey Keitel, George Clooney, Tarantino, Ernest Liu, and Juliette Lewis star in the film, with appearances from Cheech Marin, in a triple role, Michael Parks, Kelly Preston, Tom Savini, John Saxon, Danny Trejo, Fred Williamson, and John Hawkes. Of course, we would be negligent if we didn't mention Salma Hayek's incredible dance scenes as Santanico Pandemonium.
From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money
Directed by the late Scott Spiegel (Intruder, Hostel Part 3), who co-wrote Evil Dead II, five career criminals gather in Mexico to pull off a bank heist. They soon realize that they are up against far more frightening creatures than the police pursuing them. Robert Patrick, Bo Hopkins, Duane Whitaker, Muse Watson, and Danny Trejo star in the film, with cameo appearances by Bruce Campbell and Tiffani Thiessen.
From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman’s Daughter
The third film in the From Dusk Till Dawn series is a prequel set 100 years before the previous films in Mexico. This horror/western is the story of the birth of the vampire princess Santanico Pandemonium. Directed by P. J. The Gift (2000)

Nelson, Beatrice Straight, Oliver Robins, Heather O'Rourke, Dominique Dunne, Richard Lawson, and Zelda Rubinstein star as the family members and psychic investigators who are helpless before the rampaging spirit.
The Prophecy

The Relic

Se7en
Director David Fincher's second hit film, in which two detectives, a rookie and a veteran, hunt a serial killer who uses the seven deadly sins as his motives. Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Richard Roundtree, R. Lee Ermey, and John C. McGinley star in the film, which is deeply unsettling for a mainstream horror film and is made with Fincher's celebrated style.
Silent Hill: Revelation
When her adoptive father disappears, Sharon Da Silva is drawn into a strange and terrifying alternate reality that holds answers to the horrific nightmares that have plagued her since childhood. Cat People
Filmmaker Paul Schrader's remake of the classic fright film directed by Jacques Tourneur that stars Nastassja Kinski, Malcolm McDowell, John Heard, and Annette O'Toole. It is the tale of a woman who was orphaned from a young age, who finally reunites with her older brother. Matters start to go awry when she slowly discovers the true nature of her family.
Climax
A troupe of dancers who hold a dance rehearsal party in a remote area comes to grief after their holiday sangria is dosed with LSD and their demons come out to play. Gaspar Noé's film is the result of the actor/dancers' improvisation, which took the story where the players wanted or felt it should go. Most of the cast had no acting experience aside from Sofia Boutella and Souheila Yacoub, and other than Noé's concept of the situation, there were no written lines for the actors/dancers to speak.
The Faculty
When Casey Connor, Herrington High School's newspaper photographer, witnesses the murder of a nurse and sees her alive again, he decides to investigate the bizarre happenings. Could it be something even more strange than he thought? Yes, is the answer in director Robert Rodriguez's film about high school life with a script from Kevin Williamson, starring Jordana Brewster, Clea DuVall, Laura Harris, Josh Hartnett, Shawn Hatosy, Famke Janssen, Piper Laurie, Bebe Neuwirth, Robert Patrick, Usher Raymond, Jon Stewart, and Elijah Wood.
The Green Knight
Dev Patel, Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton, Sarita Choudhury, Sean Harris, and Ralph Ineson star in director David Lowery's adaptation of “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.” In it, Sir Gawain, a knight of King Arthur's Round Table, goes on a quest a year after defeating the Green Knight, which he fears may end in his death.
Green Room
Writer and director Jeremy Saulnier's gruesome and terrifying movie about a punk band that is trapped by Neo-Nazis in the bar where they played a show after they were witnesses to a murder. The band members have no choice but to try and fight their way out of the increasingly bloody trap. Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots, Alia Shawkat, Macon Blair, a frequent collaborator with Salunier and director of The Toxic Avenger remake, Joe Cole, Callum Turner, and Patrick Stewart, in a rare villain role. This movie proves that you don't need the supernatural to craft a truly frightening film.
Hannibal
Dr. Hannibal Lecter tries to reconnect with the now disgraced F.B.I. Agent Clarice Starling as he finds himself a target of revenge from a powerful victim. Director Ridley Scott's adaptation of the novel by Thomas Harris, which is a sequel to The Silence of the Lambs. Anthony Hopkins, Julianne Moore, Gary Oldman, Ray Liotta, Frankie R. Faison, Giancarlo Giannini, and Francesca Neri star in the gory film, where the action switches from Florence, Italy, and Washington, D.C.
The Hole in the Ground
Filmmaker Lee Cronin's debut feature film, before he made Evil Dead Rise, and became well-known to horror fans. A mother becomes increasingly convinced that her only son is no longer her son as she discovers a sinkhole and otherworldly beings, and as she desperately searches for her real son.
House at the End of the Street
After moving with her mother to a small town, a teenager finds that an accident happened in the house at the end of the street. Things get more complicated when she befriends a boy. A double murder is not an accident. Jennifer Lawrence, Max Thieriot, and Elisabeth Shue star in this psychological horror film directed by Mark Tonderai.
The Hitcher (2007)
A couple from college gets caught in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with a psychopathic hitchhiker and the police after witnessing a murder and being framed in this remake of the classic film from 1986 starring Sean Bean, Sophia Bush, and Zachary Knighton.
Lamb
Noomi Rapace and Hilmir Snær Guðnason star in this folk horror film about a childless couple who discover a mysterious newborn on their farm in Iceland. Hungarian filmmaker Béla Tarr and Rapace executive produced the film.
Life After Beth

The Meg
Jason Statham, Li Bingbing, Rainn Wilson, Ruby Rose, Winston Chao, and Cliff Curtis star in this monster horror film directed by Jon Turteltaub, in which a giant prehistoric megaladon shark, thought to be extinct for centuries. As they try to rescue a crew from the Marianas Trench, the deepest part of the ocean floor, they find that there may be more than one megaladon on the loose.
The Meg 2: The Trench
In the sequel to the monster shark hit, directed by Ben Wheatley (Kill List, In the Earth, High Rise), Jason Statham, Sophia Cai, Page Kennedy, and Cliff Curtis return and are joined by new cast members Wu Jing, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, and Skyler Samuels. A research team's journey into the depths of the ocean turns into chaos when a mining operation forces them into a battle for survival, facing off against Megalodons and relentless environmental marauders.
Μen (2022)
Jessie Buckley and Rory Kinnear star in filmmaker Alex Garland's film. A young widow is confronted by a village full of men, who all look the same, and are played by Kinnear, who victimize and bully the woman incessantly after she goes on a trip to escape the death of her husband.
The Menu
Director Mark Mylod's sinister film is about a special dinner thrown by a world-famous chef at his restaurant located on a remote island. Ralph Fiennes, Anya Taylor-Joy, Nicholas Hoult, Hong Chau, Janet McTeer, Judith Light, and John Leguizamo star as the chef, staff, and guests who have no idea how bloody and rare this dinner will turn out to be.
Oculus
A recently released inmate from a mental asylum learns from his sister that the murder he was convicted of committing was actually orchestrated by a supernatural entity, the Lasser Glass mirror, in writer and director Mike Flanagan's fifth film. Karen Gillan, Brenton Thwaites, Katee Sackhoff, Rory Cochrane, and Annalise Basso star in this psychological fright film.
Pet Sematary (2019)
Dr. Louis Creed and his wife, Rachel, relocate from Boston to rural Maine with their two young children. The couple soon discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near their new home in the co-directors Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer's second adaptation of the Stephen King novel.
The Silence of the Lambs:
Filmmaker Jonathan Demme's film adaptation of the Thomas Harris novel that won five Academy Awards, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Adapted Screenplay, and the only horror film to win the Best Picture Oscar to date. A young F.B.I. cadet must receive the help of an incarcerated and manipulative cannibal killer to help catch another serial killer, a madman who skins his victims. Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins, Ted Levine, Scott Glenn, Anthony Heald, and Kasi Lemmons star in the film, and Foster and Hopkins won Oscars for their performances.
Slice
Pizza delivery, 40 thousand ghosts, and werewolves are key in this horror comedy, which stars Zazie Beetz and Chance Bennett and was written and directed by Austin Vesely.
Slither
A small town is taken over by an alien plague, turning residents into zombies and all forms of mutant monsters in writer and director James Gunn's gut-churning horror comedy. Nathan Fillion, Elizabeth Banks, Tania Saulnier, Gregg Henry, and Michael Rooker star in Gunn's directorial debut that splatters guts everywhere.
Spawn
An elite mercenary is killed, but comes back from Hell as a reluctant soldier of the Devil, which stars Michael Jai White, John Leguizamo, Martin Sheen, Theresa Randle, D.B. Sweeney, and Nicol Williamson. The movie is based on the Image Comics superhero character who decides to use his new powers for good after he is tricked by the demon who gave him the deal to come back to Earth.
Underworld (2003)
Vampires and werewolves are at war and Selene, a vampire warrior falls in love with Michael, a human who is sought by werewolves for unknown reasons. Kate Beckinsale, Scott Speedman, Michael Sheen, Shane Brolly, Erwin Leder, and Bill Nighy star in the film that was the beginning of the Underworld franchise and was directed by Len Wiseman.
