Red Shirt Pictures has announced upcoming physical media releases of a host of cult horror classics, including Fright Night Part 2, Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II, Prom Night III: The Last Kiss, Prom Night IV: Deliver Us From Evil, Angel of H.E.A.T and 976-Evil II: The Astral Factor.
Producer Michael Felsher confirmed the news via a Facebook livestream, with Synapse Films posting to confirm that while these movies are very much at the start of their release journey, they are indeed coming, confirming that “Red Shirt Pictures will be overseeing the production of each release, while Synapse will oversee the audio/video and distribution of each title, all of which will be in production throughout 2025 and into 2026.”
While all of these acquisitions are incredibly exciting, news of a home media release of Tommy Lee Wallace's 1988 Fright Night 2 is particularly notable, given that the supernatural horror sequel to Fright Night has long been difficult to own (legally, at least) due to longstanding rights issues and the murder of New Century/Vista's José Menendez.
Starring Roddy McDowall, William Ragsdale, Traci Lind, Julie Carmen and Jon Gries, Fright Night Part 2 follows on from Fright Night and centers on McDowall's Charley (now a college student), who encounters a group of vampires led by a beautiful woman.
In the livestream, Felsher confirmed that director Tommy Lee Wallace will be involved in the release along with Fright Night director Tom Holland also contributing.
As for a Prom Night UHD release, Synapse confirmed it does have those rights and hope to do one, but “it all depends on access to (and quality of) the elements.”
While we probably won't hear more on these releases for a while, it's still incredibly exciting news for cult horror fans and disc collectors alike.
