After a title reveal in early November, we finally know when the sequel to Godzilla Minus One will premiere in American theaters. Toho International has announced that the sequel, Godzilla Minus Zero, is coming to our screens on November 6, only three days after the film hits theaters in Japan.

Premiering first in Japan, Godzilla Minus Zero will storm onto screens on November 3, the same day as its predecessor, and the same day that the original Godzilla film premiered in Japan all the way back in 1954. Release dates for other international territories will be announced at a later date, according to Toho, but it’s rare that a Japanese-produced Godzilla film will be hitting domestic screens so soon after its premiere in its home country.

The sequel is once again in the hands of Takashi Yamazaki, who will write and direct the film, as well as provide visual effects. Yamazaki led the original Godzilla Minus One to global success, with the film winning Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards. The 2023 film also won the Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in a Screenplay, and the Chainsaw Awards for Best Score and Best Wide Release in 2024, and became the highest grossing Godzilla film to be produced in Japan.

News of Godzilla Minus Zero’s domestic release date follows up on a host of other news we’ve gotten related to the world of the giant kaiju. Director Yamazaki also helped to design assets for two different theme park rides featuring the kaiju, including Godzilla the Ride: Great Clash, which features a new look for Mechagodzilla, and Godzilla The Ride: Giant Monsters Ultimate Battle, both of which reside at Japan’s Seibuen Amusement Park.

In domestic Godzilla news, the second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is set to hit Apple TV+ on February 27, expanding on Legendary’s MonsterVerse and the American Godzilla films. That series is also getting its own, as-yet-untitled spin-off, following Wyatt Russell’s Colonel Lee Shaw in the early days of the titular monster-hunting organization.

Godzilla Minus Zero hits theaters on November 6. Stay tuned to FANGORIA for more updates as they arrive.
