Dan Stevens isn’t hanging up his horror hat just yet. The Hollywood Reporter just revealed that the Abigail star will be reprising his role as Trapper from Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire in the film’s upcoming sequel, directed by Grant Sputore from a script by Dan Callaham.

Stevens featured in Godzilla x Kong as perhaps the fan-favorite of the bunch, alongside stars like Rebecca Hall and Brian Tyree Henry as they entered Hollow Earth, a secret and unexplored location home to gigantic monsters. He’s the latest casting addition after it was reported that The Last of Us star Kaitlin Dever will be joining the franchise, one of “several new human characters” that will feature alongside “the beloved and iconic Titans Godzilla and Kong as they face off against a cataclysmic world-ending threat, according to Legendary. Specific plot details for the sequel are being kept under wraps.

The as-yet-untitled Godzilla x Kong sequel will be the sixth in Legendary’s creatively-titled Monsterverse, which began with the American Godzilla back in 2014. It’s also featured a critically-acclaimed spin-off series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which stars father and son duo Kurt and Wyatt Russell playing two versions of the same character. Collectively, the franchise has made $2.5 billion globally over the course of a decade.

The new sequel adds to the pile of horror projects Stevens has under his belt at the moment, including Onslaught, directed by his Godzilla x Kong and The Guest collaborator Adam Wingard, as well the new season of AMC’s hit horror series The Terror, subtitled Devil in Silver.

The untitled Godzilla x Kong sequel will premiere on March 26, 2027. Stay tuned to FANGORIA for more updates.
