Luke Barnett and FANGORIA Studios are partnering up for a new horror short, Goodbye, Monster. The upcoming short film will feature voice performances from Fango friend and contributor Patton Oswalt and Tina Majorino. Writer/director Luke Barnett (The Crossing Over Express) is also starring alongside Kue Lawrence (Sketch, Marshmallow).
The short centers on a 12-year-old boy who receives one final visit from the creature who lives under his bed. As a fan of practical effects, it was important to Barnett that the creature effects for Goodbye, Monster were done practically. Enter, Dan Crawley (Interstellar, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Terrifier 3). As lifelong fans and champions of practical creature effects ourselves, this was a natural fit.
Here's your first official look at Goodbye, Monster:

Barnett's previous short, The Crossing Over Express, co-directed with Tanner Thomason, was celebrated for its cinematography and balance of humor, grief, and humanity. The film premiered on Short of the Week and racked up millions of views online.
“Luke is someone we’ve watched make incredible choices over the past few years with his shorts, and we knew we wanted to be part of what he’s creating,” said FANGORIA co-owner Tara Ansley.
“We’re drawn to auteur filmmakers who aren’t afraid to dive into horror. Artists who understand that the most unsettling terror lives in obsessively intimate moments yet aren’t afraid to go for the throat. This is central to what we’re building at FANGORIA Studios.” added Armen Aghaeian, SVP of FANGORIA Studios.

Goodbye, Monster is currently in post-production and will premiere on the festival circuit later this year. Vince and Natalie Masciale produced the short alongside Barnett. Executive Producers include Tara Ansley, Armen Aghaeian, and Abhi Goel, with Jake Morgan and Cole Travis. Co-Producers are Joshua Bootz, Adam J. Losoya, and Michael Brodner.
