Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein doesn’t hit Netflix until November, but Los Angeles-based horror fans might just have a chance to catch an exclusive sneak peek a little early. Netflix has partnered with Rare Books LA and the Library Foundation of Los Angeles to host a special benefit event tomorrow, October 3, in which del Toro will share a sneak peek at his adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic, as well as discuss the making of the film with antiquarian bookseller Ken Sanders.

The event is in support of the Los Angeles Public Library, with 100% of the profits benefitting the Library Foundation of Los Angeles as it works to restore the Palisades branch of the LAPL, which was lost in the horrific fires that plagued the city in January. General admission tickets to the event are priced at $250 USD, and give patrons not only access to the conversation between del Toro and Sanders, but also a Frankenstein movie poster, an entry to win a pair of tickets to the film’s premiere, and a free pass to Rare Books LA’s book fair on October 4 and 5.

If you want to splurge, patrons can spring for the $400 VIP package, which includes all of the above, plus a special lanyard, VIP admission to the event, and a special pre-program reception with Sanders. But, if you can’t make it to the event (or can’t afford it), Rare Books LA is also offering a $40 Frankenstein Fundraiser ticket, which includes two day admission to the book fair, a movie poster, a limited-edition Frankenstein bookmark, and an entry to win tickets to the film’s premiere.

“Mary Shelley’s masterpiece is rife with questions that burn brightly in my soul,” he Toro said. “Existential, tender, savage, doomed questions that only burn in a young mind and only adults and institutions believe they can answer. For me, only monsters hold the secrets I long for.”

Tickets for the event are available now on the Library Foundation of Los Angeles’s website
