Hannibal helmer Bryan Fuller and horror icon Clive Barker (Hellraiser, Candyman) are teaming up for a mysterious television series.
In an interview with ScreenRant following this week's Saturn Awards (where Fuller's directorial debut Dust Bunny took home a few top prizes), the Pushing Daisies director and Emmy nominee revealed he is currently “collaborating with Clive Barker on a new television series”:
There's so much that I want to do. I'm writing a script right now that hopefully will be my next directorial effort, and I'm collaborating with Clive Barker on a new television series that's very exciting, and a dream come true from my childhood. It's just a matter of time to bring them to life.
While there's no explicit indication that Fuller and Barker's project is a horror one, we can't imagine it being anything but. Barker is, after all, a bonafide legend of horror literature, art and comic books.
While we can dream that the secret series is a fourth season of Hannibal, use of the word ‘new' suggests otherwise. Still, don't discount that dream just yet, as stars of the NBC horror drama, Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy, have both confirmed their interest in returning to continue the story of the cannibal psychologist and his troubled profiler/maybe lover Will Graham, perhaps alongside Zendaya in a starring role.
