Finn Wolfhard and Billy Bryk's camp-set slasher Hell of a Summer is slicing onto Digital tomorrow, April 22, with a physical media release to follow on July 8.
Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and Bryk (Saturday Night) co-wrote and co-directed the throwback horror, as well as leading the cast alongside star Fred Hechinger (The White Lotus, Gladiator II).
Hell of a Summer follows 24-year-old camp counselor Jason Hochberg (Hechinger), who arrives at Camp Pineway thinking his biggest problem is that he feels out of touch with his teenage co-workers. What he doesn’t know is that a masked killer is lurking on the campgrounds, brutally picking counselors off one by one.
Also starring are Abby Quinn (Knock at the Cabin, Landline), D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (Warfare, Reservation Dogs), Pardis Saremi (Death and Other Details).
The 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital release of Hell of a Summer all include special bonus features including: feature commentary with Billy Bryk, Finn Wolfhard, and Fred Hechinger, a blooper reel, a fireside chat, and much more.
Wolfhard and Bryk have said they wrote the film, which premiered at Toronto Film Festival in 2023, with a goal of upending Gen Z stereotypes:
“Our No. 1 conversation was how annoying it is to see new teen movies and how badly our age group is represented […] And we’re like, ‘Why don’t we just do it?’”
Hell of a Summer was produced by Aggregate Films’ Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan, Parts & Labor’s Jay Van Hoy, Wolfhard, Bryk and Hechinger, with3 0West executive producing.
Hell of a Summer is available for digital purchase and rental at home tomorrow.
