After several years away, it’s time to return to Hobtown. We at Fango are proud to announce the return of Kris Bertin and Alexander Forbes’ graphic novel series Hobtown Mystery Stories with a brand new edition set to hit shelves later this year in the form of The Secret of the Saucer. And that’s not all! We’ve also got a first glimpse at the story for you to check out below, as well as the cover art.

This time around, Bertin and Forbes have teamed with Oni Press for the third book in the series following 2017’s The Case of the Missing Men and 2019’s The Cursed Hermit. Joining the team for this latest book is colorist Jason Fischer-Kouhi, with Bertin on board as the writer and Forbes serving as the artist. This latest chapter once again takes place in Hobtown, which has been plagued for centuries by a litany of unexplained phenomena. Running from missing men, to pagan secret societies and everything in between. At the heart of it all is the group of teenagers who come together to save their town and uncover the truths that their parents have kept from them.

As for the story at hand this time around? The synopsis for The Secret of the Saucer reads as follows:
“In Hobtown Mystery Stories: The Secret of the Saucer, the lines between conspiracy and reality become intertwined like never before during the town’s highly contested mayoral election. There’s the arrival of an unexplained, unidentified flying object, a chaotic and unhinged Ape Lord, and an outbreak of literal backward thinking. The high school Teen Detective Club should be at the forefront of the case but is rife with conflict and its own crisis of leadership as the sleuths become increasingly paranoid. Is there anyone they can trust?”
The book also includes a tribute to the late, great filmmaker and painter David Lynch, who was a major influence on Bertin and Forbes in crafting this story.
