Severin Films And Kier-la Janisse Announce HOUSE OF PSYCHOTIC WOMEN RARITIES COLLECTION VOL. 2

The female-focused boxset includes North American Blu-ray premieres of four more female-focussed gems.

Severin Films and producer/curator/author Kier-La Janisse have announced a second volume of House of Psychotic Women Rarities Collection, featuring North American Blu-ray premieres of four more female-focussed gems.

House of Psychotic Women Rarities Collection Volume 2 includes Butterfly Kiss (1995), Morgiana (1972), The Savage Eye (1959) and The Glass Ceiling (1971), all restored from original source elements and with 10+ combined hours of Special Features.

Amanda Plummer gives a searing performance as a disturbed drifter on a cross-country killing spree in BUTTERFLY KISS, the breakthrough debut from director Michael Winterbottom. Legendary Czech actressIva Janžurová portrays a pair of rival sisters in Juraj Herz’ crazed gothic melodrama MORGIANA. In Ben Maddow, Sidney Meyers and Joseph Strick’s ‘dramatized documentary’ THE SAVAGE EYE, Barbara Baxley stars as a bitter divorcee adrift in Los Angeles’ dark underbelly. And with the landmark Spanish thriller THE GLASS CEILING starring Carmen Sevilla, writer/director Eloy de la Iglesia crafts an unsettling story of paranoia, madness and murder.

Plus, special pre-order bundles, available to order now on the Severin Webstore, will come with a House of Psychotic Women Mystery Board Game, the rules of which read as follows:

The scene opens in a great manor house where nine disturbed women find themselves facing the uncomfortable truth that one of them may have committed a murder. But is the house real, or are its curious rooms just the chambers of a fractured psyche? Only once you “reenact” the traumatic event by determining the weapon, the location and the identity of the true madwoman among you, will you discover whether there has even been a murder at all — or if you are just trapped inside the nightmarish imagination of the HOUSE OF PSYCHOTIC WOMEN

Also included in selected bundles is the worldwide UHD and Blu-ray premiere of Marina de Van's disturbing New French Extremity feature In My Skin.

Since its publication in 2012, Janisse's book House of Psychotic Women, billed as “an autobiographical topography of female neurosis in horror and exploitation films”, has gone on to become an absolute essential text for cinematic scholars and horror fans alike. The first rarities collection, released back in 2023, included Identikit (1974), I Like Bats (1986), Footprints (1975) and The Other Side of Underneath (1972).
