Hurry Up Tomorrow, the upcoming psychological thriller featuring The Weeknd in his first feature role, will officially release in theaters on May 16, 2025 via Lionsgate, Deadline has reported.

Also starring Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan, Hurry Up Tomorrow is directed by Trey Edward Shults (Waves, It Comes at Night) and is being billed as an extension to The Weeknd's upcoming album of the same name. Plot details are currently under wraps.

The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, made his acting debut in Sam Levinson's controversial series TheIdol, alongside Nosferatu star Lily-Rose Depp. He's also previously graced the cover of FANGORIA, thanks to his work with FX artist Mike Marino.

Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, spoke to Deadline about boarding Hurry Up Tomorrow:

Abel is a visionary whose art cannot be confined by any single medium […] With Hurry Up Tomorrow, in partnership with Trey, his musical universe expands onto the big screen with a psychological thriller that will usher in a new cinematic experience for fans. We are thrilled to be bringing it to audiences worldwide.

The Weeknd's upcoming album of the same name is the culmination of a trilogy of studio albums, the first of which were After Hours and Dawn FM.

Deadline also let us know that Hurry Up Tomorrow is being produced by his Manic Phase and Reza Fahim along with the late Kevin Turen and Harrison Kreiss. The exec producers are Ortega, Shults, Michael Rapino, Ryan Kroft, Wassim “Sal” Slaiby and Harrison Huffman.
