Production On I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER Reboot Has Officially Started

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson's new take on the slasher classic hits theaters on July 18, 2025.

Production has officially started on the reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer, with the slasher's official Twitter/X account reminding us of the July 18, 2025 theatrical release.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is set to be directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) , from a script co-written by her and Sam Lansky. Set to star are Billy Campbell, Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, Lola Tung, and Jonah Hauer-King.

The reboot of the 1997 horror will also see returning stars Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jessica Love Hewitt, the latter of whom is in negotiations to reprise her role.

The original I Know What You Did Last Summer (directed by Jim Gillespie) follows four young friends bound by a tragic accident who are reunited when they find themselves being stalked by a hook-wielding maniac in their small seaside town.

While original star Sarah Michelle Gellar has emphatically reminded fans that her character Helen Shivers will not be returning (on account of being dead and all), Gellar is keenly involved with production behind the scenes due to her marriage to Prinze Jr. and close friendship with Robinson.

Robinson's I Know What You Did Last Summer marks the second attempt to reboot the franchise, as Amazon tried (and failed) to revive it as a series, which debuted on Prime Video in 2021. It was short-lived, lasting just a single season.

Plot details for I Know What You Did Last Summer are currently under wraps, but we'll bring you more updates as they slice in.
