The Boogeyman director Rob Savage has found his next project, and he’s bringing an IT star with him. Deadline reports that Savage is teaming up with Jessica Chastain for an adaptation of Incidents Around the House, based on the novel of the same name by Josh Malerman. Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are also behind the film, which will be released by Universal Pictures.

The adaptation will be penned by Succession writer Nathan Elston, based on Malerman’s novel. Details on how the film will be brought to life are slim, but the full synopsis for the novel (per Bloody Disgusting) is as follows:

To eight-year-old Bela, her family is her world. There’s Mommy, Daddo, and Grandma Ruth. But there is also Other Mommy, a malevolent entity who asks her every day: “Can I go inside your heart?” When horrifying incidents around the house signal that Other Mommy is growing tired of asking Bela the question over and over, Bela understands that unless she says yes, her family will soon pay. Other Mommy is getting restless, stronger, bolder. Only the bonds of family can keep Bela safe, but other incidents show cracks in her parents’ marriage. The safety Bela relies on is about to unravel. But Other Mommy needs an answer…

Horror icon James Wan is set to produce the film for Atomic Monster, with Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Macdara Kelleher, Savage, Malerman and Ryan Lewis serving as executive producers. Incidents Around the House will be Jessica Chastain’s first return to proper horror since appearing as the adult version of Beverly Marsh in It: Chapter 2, based on the Stephen King novel, though she did recently appear in the psychological thriller Mother’s Instinct alongside Anne Hathaway.

No release date has been set for Incidents Around the House. Stay tuned to FANGORIA for more updates.
