We might have just said goodbye for now to one James Wan-created blockbuster supernatural horror franchise, but over in the Insidious camp, the sixth film is rounding out its cast with Maisie Richardson-Sellers (Nine Perfect Strangers 2), Sam Spruell (Legend) and Island Austin (I Can Only Imagine 2) joining previously announced stars Amelie Eve (The Exorcist) and the legendary Lin Shaye.

Per Deadline, who reported this news earlier today, Blumhouse and Sony's Insidious 6  is currently scheduled for an August 21, 2026 release, with Jacob Chase (Come Play) directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with David Leslie Johnson (The Conjuring 2, Orphan). The pic is currently shooting in Australia.

Plot and character details remain under wraps, although Shaye will presumably be reprising her role as psychic medium Elise Rainier. Elise may have met a grisly fate all the way back in 2010's Insidious, but that hasn't stopped her showing up in later sequels, so anything could happen. It's also safe to assume Insidious 6 will follow a new set of central characters, as Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne's Lambert family wrapped up their ordeal with the Further in 2023's Insidious: The Red Door (or so we think).

Deadline remind that the Insidious franchise remains a big money-maker at the box office, with  all five movies totaling $740M worldwide and The Red Door  taking home $190M worldwide alone. Jason Blum is back in a producing role, along with Oren Peli, Wan, and Leigh Whannell, with executive producers Ryan Turek, Steven Schneider, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Leslie Johnson.

Look out for more on Insidious 6 as we get it.
