Sony and Elizabeth Gabler’s 3000 Pictures are set to remake psychosexual thriller Single White Female with Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell apparently in talks to star, Variety reports today.
Variety confirm that no director is attached to the project as of yet.
Barbet Schroeder's 1992 original starred Bridget Fonda as a recently single woman who begins to notice patterns of strange behavior from her new roommate, played by Jennifer Jason Leigh. The film was a box office hit, racking up $84 million on a $16 million budget.
Should Ortega join the Single White Female remake, it'll further cement her as a modern scream queen, joining her other genre performances in Scream, X, Wednesday, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and upcoming roles in Hurry Up Tomorrow and A24's Death of a Unicorn.
Russell has a few genre credits herself, having starred alongside Timothée Chalamet in Luca Guadagnino's 2022 romantic horror Bones and All, and she'll also be seen in Hope, the upcoming sci-fi thriller from The Wailing director Na Hong-jin.
Look out for more on the Single White Female remake as we get it!
