Ahead of tomorrow's first trailer drop, Vanity Fair has revealed some brand new images of Jurassic World Rebirth, Gareth Edwards' upcoming entry into the dino saga series.
Starring Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend and Luna Blaise, Jurassic World Rebirth was written by original Jurassic Park writer David Koepp (recently seen penning Steven Soderbergh's Presence), and follows:
Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.
According to today's new interview with Vanity Fair, the dinosaurs of Jurassic World Rebirth are more twisted than the standard reptiles we're used to, as a result of them being genetic mutations. Edwards describes one in particular as having “Some Rancor went in there, some H.R. Giger went in there, a little T. rex went in there…” Gulp. This combined with the tease that Rebirth is apparently “brutally violent” has us extremely hyped, to say the least.
Producer Frank Marshall, who co-founded the production company Amblin Entertainment along with Steven Spielberg and produced the Jurassic World series, spoke more about upping the stakes for the seventh (!!) movie in the Jurassic franchise:
“I’ve always said that visual effects are great, CGI is a great tool, but it makes you lazy because you know you can do anything […] It’s got to be dangerous. That became the mission of Rebirth: “You're in a new place, you don’t know what’s around the corner. You’ve got a different jungle, you’ve got more water, you’ve got higher cliffs. There’s a little bit of everything that’s scary.”
Jurassic World Rebirth hits theaters on July 2. Head over to Vanity Fair for the full interview and for more 2025 horror news, read our rundown of this year's most anticipated releases.
