Gareth Edwards' Jurassic World Rebirth hits theaters on July 2, with new footage hatching today ahead of a full first trailer drop on Wednesday.
Starring Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey and Rupert Friend, Jurassic World Rebirth is set to kickstart a brand new chapter in the Jurassic Park franchise, so it’s unlikely we’ll see the return of the original Jurassic team, Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, or the Jurassic World pairing of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.
Original Jurassic Park writer David Koepp (recently seen penning Steven Soderbergh's Presence) returns for the script, which tells the following story:
Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.
Today's new footage doesn't give a whole lot to go on, except a peek of Johansson and Bailey and an ominous tail rising from the tall grass. Unfortunately, this writer is not a paleontologist so we will not be making any guesses as to which dinosaur could be stalking the pair. It's definitely not a T-rex, that we're pretty sure of.
Across six films, the Jurassic series has pulled in more than $6 billion at the global box office. 2015’s Jurassic World remains one of the highest-grossing films in history, with 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion ranking as one of the only movies of the pandemic to crack the $1 billion mark globally.
