Kaitlyn Dever (No One Will Save You, the upcoming second season of The Last of Us) is reportedly set to join Legendary's Monsterverse, as Deadline report the star is in negotiations to join the cast of Godzilla x Kong‘s upcoming sequel.

Directed by Grant Sputore, the new Monsterverse feature is described as a continuation of the franchise centering Godzilla, Kong and an assortment of other Titans. It is currently set for release on March 26, 2027.

2024’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, directed by Adam Wingard, who could not return for the sequel due to ‘timing issues', racked up a massive $567.6 million at the box office, making it the highest-grossest Godzilla movie of all time.

Continuation of the MonsterVerse seems like a no-brainer, given that Godzilla vs. Kong, Godzilla x Kong, 2014’s Godzilla, Skull Island and Godzilla: King of the Monsters all bringing in combined $2.5 billion and spawning Apple’s well-regarded television series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

According to Deadline, Sputore's upcoming kaiju tale will combine “character-driven storytelling with its signature epic scale.”

Look out for more Godzilla x Kong sequel updates as they stomp in.
