Scream queen Kathryn Newton (Abigail, Lisa Frankenstein) will join fellow scream queen Samara Weaving and reteam with Radio Silence (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett) for the upcoming sequel to the 2019 horror-comedy Ready or Not.
Reporting the news exclusively earlier today, Deadline also confirms that Ready or Not 2's “f***ing banger” script will be written by original Ready or Not scribes Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy.
Starring Weaving, Adam Brody, Mark O'Brien and Andie McDowell, Ready or Not followed a young bride (Weaving) joining her new husband's (O'Brien) very wealthy, eccentric family. She is then asked to take place in a time-honored family tradition that quickly turns into a lethal game of kill or be killed.
Plot details for Ready or Not 2 are still under wraps, as well as who Newton might be playing. The younger sister of Weaving's newly-minted Grace Le Domas, perhaps?
Behind the scenes, Deadline report that Searchlight VP Production Richard Ruiz and Creative Executive Cornelia Burleigh are covering the project for the studio. They report to Production and Development co-heads DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.
Producers on the pic are Tripp Vinson, James Vanderbilt, Bradley J. Fischer and William Sherak. EPs are Chad Villella, Tara Farney, Greg Denny, Busick and Murphy.
