Cloud, the latest genre-bender from Japanese horror master Kiyoshi Kurosawa (Cure, Pulse), has set a U.S. theatrical release date of July 18 via Sideshow and Janus Films.

Per Deadline, the film will open in New York on July 18, followed by Los Angeles on July 25, before kicking off a nationwide rollout.

Starring Masaki Suda, Kotone Furukawa and Daiken Okudaira and produced by Japan's Nikkatsu Corporation, Cloud follows Yoshii, an ambitious, yet directionless, young factory worker from Tokyo, who side-hustles in black market reselling, cheating both buyers and sellers:

After swindling his way into loads of cash, Yoshii gradually attempts to disconnect from humanity. He moves out of the city, shuns his girlfriend and entrusts duties to his new, devoted assistant. Before long, his life is plagued by a series of mysterious, sinister incidents that threaten to upend his success and bring about a most violent demise.

Following its world premiere at Venice International Film Festival and U.S. premiere at Fantastic FestCloud was selected as Japan's entry for best international film for this year's Academy Awards, but was not nominated. Cloud was one of three Kurosawa efforts released last year, alongside the existentially terrifying short Chime (one of FANGORIA's Best Of 2024), and a French-language remake of his 1998 crime drama Serpent's Path.
