FANGORIA Chainsaw Award-winning final girl Lauren LaVera is set to star alongside Djimon Hounsou in The Monsterfrom Saw II – IV director Darren Lynn Bousman, according to Variety.

Produced by Saw producer Mark Burg and written by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer (Steven Soderbergh’s Unsane), The Monster follows:

[…] two millennials who make quick money by leasing incredible New York City apartments they don’t own to people who don’t know they are being scammed. The con works brilliantly until they run into an apartment owner with a dark secret who flips the game on them.

Burg added:

“Darren sent me a script with incredible twists and turns and the opportunity to work with him and the brilliant Djimon Hounsou […] This movie will be amazing and scare the hell out of audiences worldwide.”

LaVera, who can currently be seen in America's number one movie Terrifier 3, made her breakthrough in Damien Leone's 2022 Terrifier 2, where she faced off against Art the Clown as gutsy final girl Sienna Shaw. Shaw returns in Terrifier 3 to once again combat Art's festive reign of terror and will presumably return for the already-announced Terrifier (and, hopefully, the possible Terrifier 5!)

LaVera can also be seen in Italian horror The Well, as well as in Mike Flanagan's The Life of Chuck and as a judge on the latest season of The Boulet Brothers' Dragula.

Watch out for further updates on The Monster as we get them.
