Oni Press is back at it again with another sci-fi tale perfect for Halloween, this time from the mind of an Ignatz Award nominated writer. FANGORIA is excited to premiere an exclusive excerpt from Little Visitor & Other Abductions, a new comics anthology all about the aftermath of one of sci-fi’s biggest tropes: alien abductions.

The new graphic novella collection comes from the mind of Szym, who wrote and illustrated the 168 page story that hits shelves this month. The anthology features a variety of sci-fi horror stories about UFO abduction, and more specifically the “negligence and malice that allows it to happen,” featuring echoes of The Twilight Zone and The X-Files. The book’s full synopsis is as follows:

The cast and crew of an obscure film recount a tragedy that occurred during its doomed production. A young girl searches for her father in the darkness of the desert and stumbles upon an otherworldly cocktail party. Two strangers nurture violent thoughts in a bitter, lonely child as his village's harvest festival nears. Connecting these three stories is one horrific theme . . .

Our excerpt features the first five pages of the titular story Little Visitor, about the cast of a doomed Russian film revealing what happened on set in the days leading up to the disappearance of their young child star. Everyone has something to complain about, calling the boy selfish or difficult to work with, but it’s clear something else is going on under the surface — something much more sinister.

Little Visitor & Other Abductions is one of Szym’s many projects, having been a cartoonist for the last fifteen years. His other titles include stories like Their Use Continues, Swimming Holes, A Place You Can Go, Barge, Tiny House, and more.
