M3GAN’s getting some serious upgrades for her return to movie theaters. A new Dolby Cinema poster has just been released for M3GAN 2.0, bringing the killer doll back for another round with some seriously upgraded visuals.
The new artwork features the android in all her glory next to Cady (Violet McGraw), now a teenager, in a family portrait, proving that she’s still just as dedicated to pushing everyone else out of the girls’ life as she was before. While the first film was released in Dolby Atmos, an expanded soundscape, M3GAN 2.0 will also feature Dolby Vision, delivering “astonishing brightness, contrast, and color,” to match the poster.
Also starring Allison Williams returning as Gemma, the synopsis for the film is as follows:
Two years after M3GAN, a marvel of artificial intelligence, went rogue and embarked on a murderous (and impeccably choreographed) rampage and was subsequently destroyed, M3GAN’s creator Gemma has become a high-profile author and advocate for government oversight of A.I. Meanwhile, Gemma’s niece Cady, now 14, has become a teenager, rebelling against Gemma’s overprotective rules.
Unbeknownst to them, the underlying tech has been stolen and misused by a powerful defense contractor to create a military-grade weapon known as Amelia (Sakhno), the ultimate killer infiltration spy. But as Amelia’s self-awareness increases, she becomes decidedly less interested in taking orders from humans. Or in keeping them around. With the future of human existence on the line, Gemma realizes that the only option is to resurrect M3GAN (Amie Donald, voiced by Jenna Davis) and give her a few upgrades, making her faster, stronger, and more lethal. As their paths collide, the original A.I bitch is about to meet her match.
M3GAN’s return isn’t the only exciting development for the horror sci-fi franchise — she’s also got a new friend arriving soon. A spinoff, SOULM8TE, directed by Kate Dolan, is set to premiere next January, starring Evil Dead Rise’s Lily Sullivan.
M3GAN 2.0 hits theaters on June 27, and fans can pre-order tickets for the film in Dolby here. Check out the new poster below:
