Indie horror festival hit Marshmallow has a sequel in the works, with director Daniel DelPurgatorio and writer Andy Greskoviak heading back to camp for an as-of-now unannounced release date.

Marshmallow, which premiered at Panic Fest in March of 2025 and made our list of criminally overlooked indie horrors back in 2025, followed Morgan (Kue Lawrence), a shy and introverted 12-year-old forced to attend a secluded summer camp where he is thrust into a living nightmare when a legendary campfire tale becomes real:

As a mysterious figure begins stalking the camp, Morgan and his newfound friends must embark on a perilous journey that will force them to confront their deepest fears and question the very nature of their existence.

Lawrence returns for the sequel from Hemlock Circle Productions, alongside co-stars Kai Cech, Dylan Friedman, and Max Malas, with an official Marshmallow 2 (title TBD!) logline reading as follows:

Set years after the events of the first film, the sequel follows the lingering damage left behind – not just to the world, but to those who survived it. The story descends into far darker territory, expanding the mythology while erasing any remaining sense of safety as the consequences finally come due.

Now, if this plot description sounds kind of vague, that's for a good reason. Trust us when we say that Marshmallow is a film you need to go into as blind as possible, and wisely the team have decided to keep up the mystery factor for the sequel.

If you want to get caught up on the story before the sequel, Marshmallow is currently streaming on Paramount +, Amazon and Shudder. Look out for more news as we get it, and for more, here's our list of the most anticipated horror movies coming our way in 2026.
