Matthew Modine Joins The Cast Of GODZILLA X KONG Sequel

Matthew Modine (Full Metal Jacket, Stranger Things, Married to the Mob) is the latest star to join the cast of Grant Sputore's upcoming Godzilla x Kong now a deal is closed with Legendary, Deadline reports today.

Modine joins Dan Stevens (reprising his fan-favorite role as Trapper from Godzilla x Kong), Kaitlyn Dever, Jack O’Connell and Delroy Lindo in the upcoming new entry into Legendary's Monsterverse, currently set for release on March 26, 2027

Plot details for the most recent draft, written by Dave Callaham (2014's Godzilla), are still under wraps, but Deadline confirm that the Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire  sequel will feature several new human characters alongside Godzilla and Kong as they face off against a cataclysmic, world-ending threat. 

2024’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empiredirected by Adam Wingard, who could not return for the sequel due to timing issues, racked up a massive $567.6 million at the box office, making it the highest-grossest Godzilla movie of all time.

Overall, Legendary's Monsterverse series of Godzilla vs. Kong, Godzilla x Kong, 2014’s Godzilla, Skull Island and Godzilla: King of the Monsters has amassed a combined $2.5 billion and spawned the Apple series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.
