We're getting closer and closer to the July 5 release of Ti West's trilogy-ending MaXXXine – and A24 have released a brand new vintage-tinted trailer today to get you even more hyped.
Starring Mia Goth as the titular adult film star, MaXXXine will finish the slasher saga started in X and expanded in Pearl, this time trading the hot and heavy 70s setting for a glamorous but grisly 80s one:
In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.
Joining Goth in an absolutely stacked cast are Kevin Bacon, Halsey, Michelle Monaghan, Giancarlo Esposito, Elizabeth Debicki, and Lily Collins (who can be seen sporting a glorious gallon of fake blood in the below trailer.)
Also seen in today's trailer is Debicki warning that we're about to enter the belly of the beast, and a sneak peek at what looks to be an erotically charged folk horror called The Puritan II (which, given the recent discourse surrounding sex scenes in movies, is particularly hilarious!)
Goth has already gone on record to say that MaXXXine is “the best movie of the three”, adding:
It’s the biggest story of the three with the highest stakes and Maxine has gone through so much at this point. So when we find her in this new world, she’s just a force to be reckoned with and she goes through some pretty wild adventures.
Excitingly, West has already teased that the trilogy MIGHT end up becoming a tetralogy in the distant future, as he already has a sequel for MaXXXine in mind. One thing at a time though, let's let Miss MaXXXine speak for herself first.
