Would you risk your life for the good of humanity if you know you’d just be replicated if you die? Would you do it if there was money involved? That’s the question behind the upcoming science-fiction thriller film Mickey 17, which has just received a brand new trailer ahead of its March release.

The film is set on a far off colony world in the distant future, where Robert Pattinson’s Mickey Barnes has signed up to be an “expendable,” which involves being the guinea pig for all the dangerous tasks required to colonize a new world for humans to live on. When one Mickey dies, he’s simply cloned again and again, with most of his memories intact, but he’s threatened constantly not only by the world he’s attempting to help colonize, but also those around him, who want him dead for one reason or another.

The film is based on the novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton, which follows the same premise, only with fewer duplicates of Mickey. The reason for the change in number? Director Bong Joon-Ho reportedly just wanted more excuses to kill Mickey over and over (and over) again.

Mickey 17 is the director’s first since his groundbreaking hit Parasite in 2019, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture. Aside from Pattinson, it also stars Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, Mark Ruffallo, Holliday Grainger, Steve Park, and Tim Key. The film is produced by Bon, Dooho Choi, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner, with executive producers Brad Pitt, Jesse Ehrman, Peter Dodd, and Marianne Jenkins.

Mickey 17 hits theaters on March 7. Check out the new trailer below:
