HOKUM: NEON Acquires Adam Scott-Starring Horror From ODDITY Director

Damian McCarthy's latest supernatural horror is currently in post.

NEON and Waypoint Entertainment’s Cweature Features have acquired worldwide rights for a 2026 theatrical release to Hokum, the new supernatural horror from Caveat and Oddity director Damian McCarthy.

Starring Adam Scott (Severance), Hokum follows novelist Ohm Bauman, who retreats to a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents’ ashes but the staff’s tales of an ancient witch haunting the honeymoon suite take hold of his mind. Soon, disturbing visions and a shocking disappearance draw him into a nightmarish confrontation with the darkest corners of his past.

Peter Coonan (Bad Sisters) and David Wilmot (Bodkin) are also set to star in the pic, which is currently in post-production, with Florence Ordesh, Will O’Connell, and Michael Patric. Siox C, Brendan Conroy, Austin Amelio, and Ezra Carlisle rounding out the cast.

Per Deadline, Cweature Features board as co-producers on the project joining Image Nation (Late Night with the Devil) and Spooky Pictures (Barbarian), as well as Team Thrives, who co-financed the project. Also behind the scenes producing are Tailored Film’s Ruth Treacy, Julianne Forde and Mairtín de Barra (The Apprentice). Ben Ross (Late Night With the Devil), Dan Kagan (Longlegs), Rami Yasin (Late Night With the Devil) and Andrew Childs (Boy Kills World) will serve as executive producers.

NEON has also unveiled a first look at Scott in his leading role, and he does not look too happy, to say the least. Look out for more on Hokum as we get it.
