NEVER LET GO

Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Crawl) is back with Never Let Go, a psychological horror thriller starring the one and only Halle Berry, and today's brand new trailer teases an intense thrill-ride through a seemingly slithery forest horror.

Lionsgate will release Never Let Go in theaters on September 20, a week earlier than its past projected date of September 27.

Starring alongside Berry in Never Let Go are young stars Percy Daggs IV and Anthony B. Jenkins. A full plot synopsis of what Never Let Go is about reads as follows:

From visionary director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Crawl) and the creative minds behind Stranger Things and Arrival comes NEVER LET GO. In this new psychological thriller/horror, as an Evil takes over the world beyond their front doorstep, the only protection for a mother, played by Academy Award winner Halle Berry (Actress in a Leading Role, 2001 –Monster’s Ball), and her twin sons is their house and their family’s protective bond. Needing to stay connected at all times – even tethering themselves with ropes – they cling to one another, urging each other to never let go. But when one of the boys questions if the evil is real, the ties that bind them together are severed, triggering a terrifying fight for survival.

Written by Kevin Coughlin and Ryan Grassby, Never Let Go is produced by 21 Laps’ Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen and Stranger Things‘ Dan Levine.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Aja expanded on working with Berry and her role as the protective Momma:

“It was interesting for me to think about the home as a protective prison, the home of a mother who loves her children so much, she would keep them in her womb forever if they never had to see the monsters that she sees in the world […] Halle has brought a lot of compassion for her character, where she comes from and what informs her tragic present. She gave Momma the strength and fragility she needs to weave a tight bond around her sons.”
