It's here! Your updated list of the new horror comics coming your way this year. A new year is a great time to try something new, and 2026 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for new horror comics. If you’re already aware of how fantastic comics are as a medium for horror stories, you're in good company. If you’ve yet to pick up a horror comic, stick with me here for just a bit to learn more about why comics are a fantastic medium for tales of terror and how to get started reading them.
The primary reason comics are such an exciting and fun vehicle for horror is that they afford creators a certain freedom. They don’t have to abide by many of the restrictions placed on film and television; things like budget, time constraints, audience expectations, and the safety of cast and crew.
That means comics can tell bold original tales and take familiar horror franchises in exciting new directions. Below, you’ll find a list of 28 brand new and accessible original horror comics as well as new releases featuring existing characters and properties, like Universal Monsters, the Predator, and a Smile prequel.
(For more: check out our list of all the new horror movies releasing in 2026.)
Before you dive into them, though, a quick word about the nature of comic stores. New comics are only solicited up to three months in advance. This initial list covers only new horror comics released in January-March. If you’re interested in any of them, let your comics retailer know and they’ll pre-order those titles for you.
