The best Horror Movies on Prime are not that Christmas-oriented in December. They have taken the opposite route of choosing scary movies that don't have snow or jolly men in red with reindeer. Instead, some imaginative films challenge the mind and the senses are part of the streamers' selections.
It is never a bad time to be able to binge the Hellraiser series and Prime has nearly every Hellraiser movie made except the first two and the recent reboot. You can explore some of the lesser-known adventures of Pinhead and the Cenobites and discover more about the mythos.
Ari Aster's surreal third film, Beau is Afraid, Jeremy Saulnier's bloody and realistic neo-Nazi nightmare, Green Room, and Michael Sarnoski‘s prequel to the well-liked A Quiet Place series are on tap for this month. There are lots of films to be excited about for Christmas and NYE even if they aren't about those holidays.

Joaquin Phoenix, Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Parker Posey, and Patti LuPone star in this wild ride.
Child’s Play (1988) Written by Don Mancini and directed by Tom Holland this is the beginning of the Chucky franchise. A dying serial killer transfers his consciousness into a popular kids' doll using voodoo. A struggling single mother gifts her six-year-old son the much sought-after doll for his birthday, and the doll slowly begins to show its true colors.
Critters: A group of small but vicious alien creatures called Crites escape from an alien prison transport vessel and land near a small farm town on Earth, pursued by two shape-shifting bounty hunters.
Green Room: A punk rock band winds up playing a gig at a neo-Nazi skinhead bar. After one of them accidentally walks in on the death of a woman, they must fight to escape the trap. Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots, Alia Shawkat, Macon Blair, Joe Cole, Callum Turner, and Patrick Stewart. Terrifyingly real.
A Haunting in Venice: Kenneth Branagh's spooky hit mystery returns to Prime. In post-World War II Venice, Poirot, now retired and living in his own exile, reluctantly attends a seance. But when one of the guests is murdered, it is up to the former detective to once again uncover the killer.
Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth: The third film in the Hellraiser series directed by Anthony Hickox that diverges from the storyline of the first two movies. The character of Kristy Cotton does make a cameo appearance. A reporter must stand against Pinhead after he is resurrected from his prison and creates new Cenobites on Earth.
Hellraiser IV: Bloodline: In the 22nd century, a scientist attempts to right the wrong his ancestor created: the puzzle box that opens the gates of Hell and unleashes Pinhead and his Cenobite legions.
Hellraiser: Inferno: Directed by Scott Derrickson (The Black Phone, Insidious, Sinister), this fifth Hellraiser film is about a shady police detective who becomes embroiled in a strange world of murder, sadism, and madness after being assigned a murder investigation against a madman known only as “The Engineer”.
Hellraiser: Hellseeker: Kristy Cotton, the lead character played by Ashley Laurence, returns to the series in the sixth film. After a car crash, a shady stockbroker suffers from amnesia. This leaves him in a hazy limbo of sex and murder. But, as in a predestined journey, he unmistakenly takes the bait and follows the marked-out clues to Pinhead.
Hellraiser VII: Deader: Another journalist in the Hellraiser world uncovers an underground group that can bring back the dead and slowly becomes drawn into their circle. Kari Wuhrer, Paul Rhys, Simon Kunz, and Doug Bradley star in this seventh edition of the series.
Hellraiser: Hellworld: The eighth movie in the franchise tells the story of gamers playing an MMORPG based on the “Hellraiser” films who find their lives endangered after being invited to a rave, the host of which intends to show them the truth behind the Cenobite mythos.
A Quiet Place: Day One: Michael Sarnoski's prequel to the A Quiet Place franchise stars Lupita Nyong'o, Joseph Quinn, Djimon Hounsou, Alex Wolff and two extraordinarily adorable cat actors. In it, a young woman named Sam finds herself trapped in New York City during the early stages of an invasion by alien creatures with ultra-sensitive hearing.
Pet Sematary Two: A teenage boy and his father move to his recently deceased mother's hometown, where they encounter the ancient Native American cemetery with the power to raise the dead in this sequel to the original adaptation of Stephen King's novel. Director Mary Lambert returned to make Pet Sematary Two, and it stars Edward Furlong, Anthony Edwards, and Clancy Brown.
Stephen King’s Thinner: Tom Holland directed this adaptation of the Stephen King novel about an attorney who is cursed to lose weight until he dies by the father of a Romani woman that he killed in an accident. When he is found innocent, the father touches his face and speaks the curse into being. Robert John Burke, Joe Mantegna, and Lucinda Jenney star in the film.
Twilight Zone: The Movie: Four horror and science fiction segments, directed by four famous directors, each of them being a new version of a classic story from Rod Serling's landmark television series.
The Witches (2020): Roald Dahl's classic novel was adapted for a second time by director Robert Zemeckis, Guillermo del Toro and Kenya Barris in 2020. Anne Hathaway, Octavia Spencer, Stanley Tucci, Kristin Chenoweth, and Jahzir Bruno star in this story of a young boy and his grandmother have a run-in with a coven of witches and their leader.
