New RESIDENT EVIL REQUIEM Trailer Previews New Protagonist In Action

The ninth mainline entry in the iconic survival horror gaming series hits consoles next February.

Over at tonight's Gamescom 2025, Capcom has revealed a fresh gameplay trailer for Resident Evil Requiem giving us a better look at new protagonist Grace Ashcroft in action.

The ninth mainline entry in the iconic survival horror gaming series is set 30 years after a missile strike destroys Raccoon City, and follows investigate reporter Ashcroft, daughter of Resident Evil Outbreak‘s Alyssa Ashcroft, also seen in today's new gameplay trailer.

Today's new gameplay trailer sees Grace and Alyssa attempt to escape what looks like a cultish serial killer roaming the halls of a hotel the pair have been staying in. No zombies here yet, but it does look like Requiem is making good on that promise to return the series to its horror roots.

What the new trailer doesn't give us though is a reveal of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4  lead and franchise fan favorite Leon S. Kennedy. Although director Koshi Nakanishi has already stated that the hardened special agent wouldn't fit well with the team's vision of Requiem leaning hard into the horror, fans have still been holding out hope for a cameo role. Maybe Capcom are keeping his big reveal a secret, but between this and his confirmed lack of appearance in Zach Cregger's upcoming Resident Evil reboot movie, it's not a great time for Leon stans.

As we reported previously from our first look at the game out of Summer Games FestResident Evil Requiem will allow fans to switch between first and third-person perspective, depending on your gaming preference.

Resident Evil Requiem is set for release on February 27th, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Check out the new trailer below:
