The NYC Horror Film Festival is the brainchild of founder Michael J. Hein, who created the festival in 2001 as a venue for new independent horror filmmaking. Each December the NYCHFF fills the city with special screenings, parties, celebrity guests and free giveaways. Since the passing of Michael J. Hein, the Hein Family continues to keep  the festival alive in his honor.
