The latest is a long line of cult classic films getting their due on 4K, Fred Dekker’s campy classic is next in line. Night of the Creeps, starring horror mainstay Tom Atkins, is hitting 4K Blu-ray this March courtesy of Scream Factory, with plenty of special features for anyone obsessed with the directorial debut from the man behind Monster Squad.
Night of the Creeps, originally released in 1986, also stars Jason Lively and Jill Whitlow as a pair of teens faced with a zombie plague caused by a corpse infected with not the traditional zombie curse, but extraterrestrial slugs implanted when the body was abducted by aliens in the 1950s. Written in a week, with most of the characters named after famous horror filmmakers, the movie was an earnest attempt at expressing Dekker’s love for B movies, but was ultimately a failure at the box office, before developing a cult reputation in the years that followed.
The new release comes with a whole host of special features in addition to a 4K transfer from the original film negative, as approved by Dekker himself. The full list of additional features is as follows:
