It’s official! LEGO has announced that a new Godzilla set is coming our way. It’s been a big time for the King of the Monsters, with the legendary kaiju arguably more popular than he’s ever been over the past couple of years. Between the ongoing MonsterVerse movies, including the upcoming Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, as well as the Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One, there is more to look forward to than ever before. Now, we can add this exciting announcement to the pile.
The set was confirmed by the LEGO Ideas blog. They evaluated tons of fan-made submissions that hit at least 10,000 support votes. The company currently has 11 fan ideas in development, with Matthew Esposito’s hulking Godzilla getting the approval to become an official LEGO set. Check out the model for yourself.

It should be noted that these pictures are just of the model that Esposito built for his submission and not the final product. Esposito explained in his original submission that the appearance was “mainly being based on his portrayals from the more recent Legendary Pictures Godzilla movies, such as Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Godzilla vs. Kong, as well as the upcoming Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire movie.” He also made a solid pitch for why now is the right time to make this set a reality.
“I was really blown away by the new looks and appearances of Godzilla in these more recent films. I thought that this new look would translate well into LEGO. I believe that this model would make a great LEGO set is because I believe that, with new varying pieces of Godzilla media sprouting left and right, I would be led to believe that many people would be hyped and more invested in Godzilla, and I would want nothing more than to see people have their own buildable Godzilla on hand to play and display with.”
There are currently no details as to when the set will be released, nor is there any information regarding the cost, number of pieces included in the set, etc. Either way, it’s neat that something such as this was generated by a genuine fan, rather than some corporate bean counter.
Aside from the movies, the King of the Monsters has a big presence everywhere these days. The folks at IDW are bringing us a new Godzilla shared universe, dubbed the Kai-Sei era, with those books all launching later this year. Apple TV+ has also wrapped filming on Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2, which is expected to debut either later this year or in early 2026. Aside from that, Toho is bringing a 4K restoration of Shin Godzilla to U.S. theaters this summer as well.
The Godzilla LEGO set doesn’t have an official release date but stay tuned. For more, get the details on the upcoming Godzilla video games.
